You asked for them, so we brought them back! Our editing services are now open.
Since 2000, The Copperfield Review has gained a worldwide reputation as a leading market for short historical fiction and history-based poetry. Meredith Allard’s book Painting the Past: A Guide for Writing Historical Fiction was named a #1 New Release in Authorship and Creativity Self-Help on Amazon.
For fiction, we specialize in historical, literary, paranormal, historical romance, and mystery. We have helped authors with developmental editing and manuscript critiques as well as proofreading and line editing. For nonfiction, we specialize in topics such as education, writing, publishing, and literature.
Here are the editing services we provide:
Copy editing includes checks for:
- Spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes
- Sentence structure
- Typographical errors
Content editing includes checks for:
- Story development
- Word choice
- Narrative voice
- Showing vs. telling
- Dialogue issues
- Clarity of ideas and/or plot
- The “So what?” factor
Proofreading is the final stage of editing prior to publication where we check for any final adjustments in spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. We also check the line, paragraph, page, and chapter spacing as well as manuscript formatting issues.
A manuscript critique is where we evaluate your style and structure. If we’re examining fiction, we’ll evaluate dialogue, point of view, voice, plot, and pacing. If we’re examining nonfiction, we’ll make sure your message is clear for your readers.
The annotated critique of your manuscript will address areas where improvement may be needed, and we’ll give you guidance so you can make those changes.
At this time we’re editing the following types of manuscripts:
- historical and all of its subgenres
- writing and publishing
- scholarly articles and dissertations (APA, MLA, or Chicago Manual of Style)
